Key Background
Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) Variable Parking Tariff Policy would come into action by April 4, 2025, to facilitate optimisation of parking space and de-congest hot spots. The system is dynamic city-wide by time and location with parking space usage optimised through dynamic rates.
Under this policy, the peak time will be 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and parking will cost more during peak times. Super premium parking spaces along metro stations, business areas, and big shopping malls will cost AED 6 per hour, and standard parking spaces will cost AED 4 per hour.
Off-peak, or between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM and between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM, will be low tariff. Premium will cost AED 4 per hour and regular will cost AED 3 per hour. Parking between 10:00 PM and 8:00 AM and on Sundays and public holidays will also be free.
The RTA divided the parking zones into A, B, C, and D with set rates. Premium off-street in Zone A, for example, will be AED 6 an hour peak and AED 4 off-peak. Multi-storey car parks (MSCPs) will be a fixed AED 5 per hour day and night and the daily cap fixed at AED 40 for more than eight hours of parking.
The project facilitates long-term city planning of Dubai with moderation on car park usage and promotion of public transport mode, especially off-peak.
