  • It will be based in Dubai Jebel Ali Free Zone, with shipping and logistics hubs.
  • It is supported by the UAE and Indian governments, and that strengthens bilateral trade cooperation.

Key Background

In a significant push towards economic cooperation between India and the UAE, Bharat Mart—a standalone Indian product shopping mall complex—is to open in 2026 in Dubai. Unveiled at the level of wide-ranging interaction between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the UAE administration, the project is modelled on operational Dragon Mart from China and is aimed at enabling Indian exporters to enter regional and global marketplaces through a strong platform.

Strategically positioned within the Jebel Ali Free Zone, Bharat Mart will cover vast land space and accommodate exhibition halls, wholesale and retail units, warehouses, and ancillary logistics facilities. This positions it as an attractive entry point for Indian manufacturers to further establish themselves in the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. It will optimize trade flows by connecting land, sea, and air transportation networks and decreasing the cost of doing business across the board for exporters.

Bharat Mart will be one of the mainstays of the UAE-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), pursuant to which the non-oil bilateral trade between the two countries will be increased to $100 billion by 2030. In addition to being a bridge to Indian goods from textiles and electronics to food and pharma, the mart will be an SME and big business platform to establish B2B and B2C connections.

The project has gotten robust support from DP World and UAE government institutions in its endeavor to transform Dubai into a global trading and logistics center. Indian SMEs stand to benefit directly from Bharat Mart through lower costs of warehousing, more rapid shipping lead times, and improved exposure to global buyers.

With more than 3.5 million Indian nationals residing in the UAE and both nations enjoying strong diplomatic and economic relations, Bharat Mart can be a model project in forging this strategic connection.
