Key Background
US-based eVTOL leader Archer Aviation is hastening its international deployment plans for air-taxis with a strategic partnership with Jetex, a Dubai-based aviation services group. As part of the agreement, Archer will be able to leverage Jetex’s global network of more than 38 FBO terminals across 50+ countries in deploying its Midnight aircraft globally.
This transaction supports Archer’s earlier announced UAE partnership for which it aims to commence commercial operations in 2025 beginning with Abu Dhabi. The region has emerged as a hub for advanced air mobility due to supportive regulatory frameworks, infrastructure plans, and partnerships with organizations such as ADIO (Abu Dhabi Investment Office), Falcon Aviation, and the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
Jetex offers core competencies in ground handling, customer services, logistics, and private terminal operations. These services will be pivotal to Archer’s air-taxi mode of operation, the objective of which is to decrease urban traffic congestion and offer swift inter-city as well as intra-city air mobility solutions.
The eVTOL market is anticipated to expand at enormous rate, and Archer and the others (e.g., Lilium and Joby Aviation) are vying for global markets. The global presence of Jetex positions Archer with a competitive edge, and the company is well positioned to rapidly expand into markets in Europe, Asia, and North America after its UAE launch.
With regulatory approvals in the future and fundamental infrastructure partnerships secured, Archer is poised to drive the eVTOL revolution. Acquisition of Jetex forms the essential component of its global expansion plan, extending customer service and ground-level support to handle a profitable commercial air taxi enterprise.
